The Rugged Central Coast

Monterey is the perfect place to S.L.A.M. by the ocean all year long! The Stroller Strong Moms founder, Alexa Smith, and her team will lead you through butt kicking workouts for all fitness levels! Yoga is offered every other Friday too! Be sure to bring a jogging stroller, yoga mat or towel, water, snacks and toys for baby, set of dumbbells & resistance band (if you have them, but we have extras), and a need to S.L.A.M.! Moms with kids of all ages are welcome… no stroller aged kids? No problem, just show up!

TUESDAYS, THURSDAYS & FRIDAYS | 9:30-10:30AM (every other Friday is Yoga!)

This park is located in Pacific Grove and has the most beautiful backdrop to get your SLAM on! There are plenty of great features including a large lawn, beach volleyball court, rocky outcrops, a concrete pier, and access to the beautiful coastal recreation trail. It is also a short distance to Berwick Park which offers another large lawn to SLAM! We finish class at Caledonia Park which is a block from Lovers Point and offers a fenced in playground for the SLAM kids to play!

Parking & Start Location

There is a parking lot on Ocean View Boulevard and additional parking on the street and in a small lot towards the point. Class ends at Caledonia Park, so you can also park at the park and walk down to Lovers Point for the start of class.

Toro Park is a very large and beautiful park with features including two softball fields, multiple playgrounds, large fields, volleyball courts, hiking trails, paved paths, hills, stairs, a fitness trail and more!

Parking & Start Location

The starting point will be in the large field straight ahead when you first enter the park. There are multiple parking lots surrounding the field.

Monterey Instructors

Alexa has a master’s degree in Health and Physical Education and has been an ACE certified group fitness instructor since 2011. She is CPR/AED certified through AHA and holds a Sports Conditioning Specialty Certification as well as a Pre and Post-natal Fitness education. She has extensive experience coaching athletes in strength and conditioning and speed and agility as well as coaching children of all ages in soccer. With her fitness and coaching experience and an undergraduate degree in early childhood education, developing a fitness community for moms and their kiddos was the perfect fit for her. She created Stroller Strong Moms in Columbus in 2011 and it has since grown to so many new cities. She moved to Monterey in 2015 with her husband, Tony, and three children, Destry, Velzy and Zoya. Her favorite ways to SLAM are to swim, HIIT, run, play soccer, and sweat alongside all her fellow SSMs at class of course!

Kim is an ACE certified group fitness instructor and is CPR/ACLS/PALS certified. She also works full time as an ICU nurse. She has lived on the central coast for 7 years with her husband Chris and 2 year old son Lucas. Her favorite ways to SLAM are by exploring the trails of Monterey County, riding her Peloton bike, and of course sweating it out alongside her SLAM sisters!

SSM? Life changing. The instructors are highly professional and simply AMAZING mommas who know how it is. I have seen great changes in my body and strength, but for me, it goes above and beyond that: I have met motivational, positive, and inspirational mothers, and made lifelong friendships. All I can say is THANK YOU SSM for being an important part of my life and always making me sore.

Bree is a certified USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach and holds a current CPR certification through AHA. Her athletic background includes competitive Olympic weightlifting, strength training, and CrossFit. She’s a freelance writer, mom to a toddler that doesn’t like to sleep, self-proclaimed foodie, Coast Guard spouse and ombudsman, and active SLAMMIE. Bree joined Stroller Strong Moms in 2016 shortly after moving to Monterey and quickly found her niche of moms, athletes, and community on the Central Coast. When not SLAMMING, you can find her exploring the Monterey Peninsula for beaches (or food), lifting with her husband, or trying really hard to get her toddler to nap. She looks forward to being able to help moms reach their fitness goals and show them that being strong is beautiful.

Yoga Instructor

Erika completed her 200-hour Vinyasa certification with Hot Asana Yoga University in North Carolina and is registered with Yoga Alliance. She is excited to join the SLAM family as a Yoga Teacher and looks forward to helping Slammies find their own strength, balance, mental clarity, and inner peace. Her classes are fun and playful, designed to feel good (yet still provide a challenge), with an emphasis on alignment and inclusivity. Through teaching, she hopes to inspire others to discover their own light, empowering them to open their hearts to find joy and compassion for themselves and the world around them. Erika is the mother of a beautiful little sassafras, Elowyn Mae (1.5). Her days are spent attempting to stay (mostly) sane (and occasionally washing her hair) as she navigates this crazy/beautiful ride called motherhood. When not slamming with her homies, she can be found hiking, gardening, exploring, sipping coffee and/or mimosas (sometimes simultaneously), and soaking up the central coast with her delightful husband, aforementioned toddler, and two 70lb fur children, Zoey and Myrtle.
